This was the largest project in J.L. Marshall’s 90-year history, encompassing over 4.5 million square feet of concrete work. For reference, this is the size of approximately 78 football fields and 43 Home Depots.
This project required more than 120,000 cubic yards of concrete and 6,500 tons of reinforcement. To put its scale into perspective, the Empire State Building required approximately 62,000 cubic yards of concrete—nearly half the volume used on this project.
J.L. Marshall placed a quarter of a million (250,000) square feet of concrete slabs per week. In total, over 4.5 million feet of concrete was placed – that’s over 103 acres of concrete. The concrete slabs were placed to meet demanding concrete finish requirements for flatness, reflectivity and resistance ensuring compatibility with Amazon’s highly sensitive robotic material handling system.
J.L. Marshall completed this project in less than one year. At the time of completion, it was the fastest-built foundation and main frame structure of any Amazon warehouse in the United States.
